Mobile internet services likely to remain suspended till May 7 in south Kashmir

Srinagar: Mobile internet services are likely to remain barred in South Kashmir till the conclusion of elections in Shopian and Pulwama, reported The Kashmiriyat.
Mobile internet services were snapped in the four districts of South Kashmir- Kulgam, Islamabad, Shopian and Pulwama after the encounter in Shopian’s Imam Sahib area early morning on Friday.
Shopian and Pulwama will go to polls in the last leg of the polls of Anantnag Lok Sabha seat on the 06th day of May amid tight restrictions in the two districts.
Earlier, an order was passed by the local administration in Shopian imposed Section 144 for a period of one month in the district.
Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure prohibits the meeting of five or more persons, organizing public meetings, and carrying firearms and can be applied for up to two months.
