Srinagar, Apr 22: United Jihad Council (UJC) on Monday expressed concern over the deteriorating health condition of incarcerated JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik, and other leaders.
In an e-mailed statement issued to KN18, UJC spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain quoted its chief Syed Salah-ud-din as saying, “Malik has started hunger strike against ill treatment meted out to the inmates who have been arrested by NIA and are lodged at Tihar Jail following which his health condition has got deteriorated and has been shifted to Ram Manohar Lohya hospital for treatment.”
He said, "Malik's health had already worsened, and arresting him. Such a situation indicates that India is not troubled by human rights violations."
“Not only Malik, but several other leaders including Aasiya Andrabi, Peer Saifullah, Shabir Shah, Muzaffar Ahmad Dar, Jamaat-e-Islami president Dr. Hameed Fayaz, Ayaz Akbar, Altaf Shah and others are also sufferings from diseases,” he added.
He asked “why the world human rights organizations are acting as mute spectator over the sufferings of inmates.” UJC chief further appealed the organizations to take note of the prevalent situation of inmates and intervene in this regard.
