ICC announces names of 22 match officials for World Cup, only one Indian umpire joins this panel
World cup 2019 ICC announces the names of 22 match officials for the one-day World Cup that starts in May 30 in England. The name of the match referee and field umpires was announced in this. Sundaram Sun has been included in the panel as an umpire on behalf of India while Aleem Dar of Pakistan will also be seen in the role of the umpire in the World Cup.
The 22 member panel named by the ICC has six match referees and 16 umpires. Sundaram Ravi is the only Indian umpire who has got the opportunity to officiate in the World Cup. During the IPL, Sunder Ravi had come in a lot of discussions because of not giving a no ball in a match. After this incident, many legends including Sri Lankan pace bowler Lasith Malinga and Virat Kohli were criticized by them.
David Boon will be the match referee for the World Cup tournament, while Kumar Dharmasena will be the umpire and Pal Rafael will be the third umpire. Bruce Oxenford will be an umpire on the field while Joel Wilson will be the fourth umpire. Boon was a member of the 1987 World Cup winners while Dharmasena was part of the Sri Lankan team led by Arjun Ranatunga in 1996. Raphael was part of the Australian team winning the 1999 World Cup.
